Awkwafina

Awkwafina is an American performer and actor who began her career with innovative raps which addressed sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comic perspective. Her career then grew into Hollywood. She was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants within Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came in the form of trumpet. Additionally, she was given classical and jazz training later when she began to explore hip-hop as a teenager. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies at college, even studying Mandarin in Beijing during a brief time. It wasn't until she began focusing on music until the time she completed her degree. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album featured other hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$1. The third track was linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, published in 2015, which was a different project. Her resume contained both an musicians and an author. Now she was looking for a new career path in acting. In addition to early television shows like Girl Code and Tawk, she's been featured in movies like Neighbors2Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018, her breakthrough role was in Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
